Caring Corner

Book Drive with Our Kids Read

PTK Catalyst is celebrating service with another year of the Caring Corner. Service is one of the four Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa, so Catalyst attendees will have the opportunity to give back to the community in the Opportunity Expo. As part of the Caring Corner, Catalyst attendees will have the chance to participate in a book drive with local organization Our Kids Read.

Our Kids Read is a local non-profit organization that serves the students across the United States to advance reading literacy and mentorship. Their mission is to both promote the love of physical diverse books with children ages 4-12 and to use technology to connect students and mentors with diverse books that encourage, inspire and educate.

To help support their mission, PTK will be hosting a children’s book drive in the Caring Corner at Catalyst.

Catalyst attendees are encouraged to bring new or like-new books for kids in preschool through 8th grade. Our Kids Read wish list includes stories from a variety of cultures: Native-American/Indigenous, African-American, LatinX, Southeast Asian and more.
